Hawaiian Disco is a 12 year old gelding who is available for adoption as a companion horse at Remember Me Rescue. We would like to find a home for him where he could be a friend for another horse or a pasture pet. He is a very easy keeper and has no known health issues. He has great feet and can stay barefoot. Disco is very sweet, easy to work with, stands for the farrier and vet, and loves his carrots! Disco is related to both Seabiscuit and Man O' War.
Here is his story....
A Canter Texas trainer placed him in 2016, but in 2018 he was found by Canter Kentucky in a local kill pen. Thankfully, Canter KY was able to pull him and send him to RMR for quarantine and re-homing at that time.
When Disco first arrived at RMR he was head shy and extremely nervous around all humans. We find this typical for horses who have been through the kill pen system. Many have serious issues with horse PTSD and take time to work through their distrust of humans. Fortunately, with a little time and ground work he relaxed and we were quickly able to gain his trust. His silly personality keeps us all entertained.
Disco is low man on the pole and never wants confrontation with the other horses. This will make him perfect company for another horse or to babysit yearlings. He is currently out in the pasture with other companion only geldings.
Disco is current on all vaccinations and has a current coggins. He requires no special care or feed program.
