Due to the special needs of senior horses, some are deemed permanent residents at Remember Me. They will live out their days and never be unwanted again. We need your help to continue to care for the special needs of these older horses.
24 year old Be Bop Baby is a survivor of the 2012 Charles Ford starvation case in Many, LA. She was nearly starved to death at his breedeing farm where dozens of others suffered that horrible fate. She is now healthy, happy and a permanent resident of Remember Me Rescue.
23 year old Tricky Prospect was born March 5, 1998 with high hopes of being a champion. After his lackluster 3 start career came to an end he was donated to a college breeding program where he remained for many years. In 2016, Tricky was taken to an auction, a common practice to disburse horses from public programs. We ensured his safety and brought him to RMR to live out his days. He is no longer a breeding stallion, but a happy gelding.
20 year old Ohbeegeewhyen is a chestnut mare that earned over $220,000 on the track. She was a successful broodmare and she is now living at Remember Me Rescue as a permanent resident. Ohbee was recently diagnosed with moon blindness and is being treated by our vet. This is a condition that will never go away and she always appreciates any help.
24 year old The Deputy is a black stallion who was once a great race horse. He won the Santa Anita Derby and ran in the Kentucky Derby as a 3 year old. He was retired and stood as a breeding stallion but when his offspring didn't run as hoped, he was sold to woman that breeds barrel horses. In March 2021, she sold him at an auction and he was purchased by a kill buyer and landed in a kill pen. His former owner and trainer from over 20 years ago sprang into action and purchased The Deputy. They contacted Remember Me and asked us to help secure his safety. After much consideration, they decided to let The Deputy live out his days here with us.
