Galerio has a cool story. He was a very good racehorse. He earned nearly $700k and raced 47 times with 14 victories, 21 second place finished, and 5 thirds. He raced for 6 consecutive years at 9 different racetracks.
When Galerio started having some issues, he was dropped in class and continued winning, but was claimed several times. On 11-1-2024, he was claimed for a final time by people from his home state of Maryland. They owned him for a short time several years ago and he had run very well for them. They felt like they owed a nice retirement to him. He was immediately moved from the track, sent to a farm to let down, and then transported to Remember Me Rescue.
Galerio has had 2 knee surgeries but successfully raced several times after them. He seems incredibly sound for his history but we would prefer a non competition type home for him with someone who is not afraid of doing maintenance if it is needed.
He will not be for a beginner or for anyone who does not have experience retraining OTTB's. He can be a little rude in the stall and is only track broke at this time.
